History of the Centre

In 1998 as part of the ongoing commitment to develop Australian Fencing to an International Level, Ernie Simon and Patrick Lepicier established the Melbourne Fencing Club Inc; a privately owned fencing Club. In 2006 the club was renamed to The Melbourne Fencing Centre.

In its short history The Melbourne Fencing Centre has provided Olympians at Sydney 2000 and two National Champions at the 2002 Australian Open Championships and a Commonwealth Games Champion in 2003.

Located close to the intersection of High Street and Harp Road at The Masonic Centre in Kew, the venue is serviced by trams and buses as well as having close access to the Eastern Freeway.

We endeavour to provide in one of the best possible fencing facilities ever offered in Australia.

Equipped with 5 electric fencing strips, the centre has a changing room and catering facility for social functions.

Training Sessions are currently available 4 times per week in all three weapons, foil, epee and sabre.

The Melbourne Fencing Centre is committed to providing the skills and competencies that will take our members to reach their personal best as confident and independent fencers.
