Club Rules
Language: Swearing and obscene language is not acceptable in the confines of the venue. Courtesy: Respect the opponent and the jury means: a) Salute your opponent, the President and the Judges at the beginning and end of a bout. b) Shake hands at the end of the bout. c) Fence within the rules of the sport. d) Acknowledge hits when there is no judge. e) Do not refuse a bout when asked by another fencer, irrespective of their skill level and experience. f) Accept all decisions of the President and Judges. Fencing Strip Access: In order to ensure fair access to fencing strips for all members, at the end of a 15 hit bout one fencer is required to vacate the strip, leaving the other fencer to stay on and fence with the next person in the queue (regardless of the experience of the next fencer). Safety: Fencers must use proper clothing and fencing equipment & take all the necessary precaution to ensure reasonable & safe behaviour during and after a bout. Fencers not taking account of these safety rules will be asked to comply or not to fence. Disciplinary Action: Management reserves the right, to reprimand, suspend or expel members.

Membership: a) From the 1st of July each year, and each person seeking membership at the M.F.C. will be required to lodge an application for membership or membership renewal. b) The membership will be valid from the 1st of July to the 30th of June of each year. c) Acceptance of membership application will be conditional to: i. being financial for the previous year membership fee. ii. agreeing to comply with the "Rules & Regulations of the Club" and the "Code of Conduct" of the M.F.C. iii. payment in full of the appropriate annual fee, at the time of completing the application. d) Application must be approved by the M.F.C. management. Applicants, who are accepted as members will by virtue of acceptance, be bound by the Centre Rules & Regulations. e) All members have equal right to exercise the privileges offered by the centre. Coaching: a) Coaching at the M.F.C. will be restricted to those appointed by the Head Coach, Ernie Simon. b) In accordance with the International Standard, Coaches have the absolute authority in the fencing hall. Property: The "you break, you pay" principle is to protect the chattels and property of the M.F.C. Intentional damage to the Club property must be repaired or replaced if adequate repair is not possible by the perpetrator. Centre Opening Times and Days: a) A security lock has been fitted to the door of the centre. Security keys will be issued to the coaches only. These people will be required not to duplicate or/and lend their key to any unauthorized person. b) Access to the centre will be during opening hours listed on this site. Equipment: a) All fencing bags must be stored in the designated area. No bags can be left on the floor of the hall. b) Fencers must take their bag and possession as they the fencing venue. No overnight storage is permitted. c) The Melbourne Fencing Centre does not accept responsibility or liability for equipment which is lost / stolen / mislaid or damaged within the confines of the premises. d) The Centre will make some fencing equipment available for hire to members of the M.F.C. on the basis of availability. Club Loyalty: Selected competitive fencing members of the M.F.C. will be required to represent the Centre each time they enter a competition. Victorian Fencing Association (Fencing Victoria) Members are responsible to register with Fencing Victoria to ensure their eligibility to fence in competitions. | ||||||||||
