Beginners Each beginner class consists of three periods; The first period will focus on warming up through stretching exercises and games. The second period will focus on foot-work. The third period will be devoted to learning the ins and outs of fencing with a foil. The eight week course will be progressive and aim at providing you with the ability to fence with confidence. At the end of the beginner's course; you can take up a six months membership costing $240.00; this includes a continual intermediates course as well as weekly foot-work class. Of course we will ensure that you fence with electric equipment and practice anytime the centre is open. Beginner Course Schedule: Saturday: 9.00 am. to 10.30 am Wednesday: 6.30 pm. to 8.00 pm Equipment is provided. Musketeers The Melbourne Fencing Club runs the most vibrant under 14-year-olds fencing program. Our goal is to empower young people to the sport of fencing. At The Melbourne Fencing Club our kids are challenged physically, mentally and emotionally and learn not only to be good winners and good losers, but also how their actions directly influence the results they achieve. Our Musketeers learn to evaluate their attitudes about themselves and others, overcome fears, think strategically and solve problems. Each session involves play and development of fencing skills through the application of games for warm-up, conditioning, concentration, as well as fencing drills and bouting. Throughout the year The Melbourne Fencing Club runs Inter-Club Tournaments for our Musketeers that provide a challenge and motivation for each Musketeer to test him/herself and to improve on personal best. We also encourage and train for competitions organized by the Victorian Amateur Fencing Association where Musketeers are faced with new challenges and skill-levels, meet kids from other clubs, contribute to team situations and develop friendships that will last a lifetime. |
