Fencer's Code of Conduct:
Respect Fencing:
- Be on time for training, lesson and competitions
- Always give maximum effort and strive for the best possible performance
- Always thank your opposition, coaches, referees and officials after every competition or training session
- Accept success and failure, victory and defeat, with dignity and be a positive role model to others
Respect Others:
- Referees, officials, coaches, opponents, spectators and your parents should be valued
- Respect the decisions of coaches, referees and managers
- Stand up for others involved in Fencing: protect them from verbal or physical abuse, threatening or intimidating behaviors, bullying
- Always make beginner Fencers welcome - remember, you too have walked in those shoes before
- Take responsibility for your actions on and off the piste
- Stop making excuses for certain situations that your are in, or for yourself
- Do not smoke, drink or take drugs of any kind (other than prescription)
- Never use inappropriate language or gestures
- Wear correct clothing for the activity in which you are taking part, e.g. training, lesson, competition, fitness
- Respect the club facilities and the equipment that you use
- Tell someone you trust if the behavior of others makes you feel uncomfortable in any way
